The Walk

The Walk

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

I walk alone on this path so dark,
I walk alone when my car I park.
I walk through woods and empty fields galore,
Till you can see me no more.

I walk where I can be alone,
I walk to escape life's cyclone.

I walk because I'm different,
I walk or be shot by your verbal turret.

I walk to ease the pain,
I walk to lower your gain.

I walk to the bridge to jump,
I walk till my foot becomes a stump.

I walk to be with God's angels,
I walk to soar with the gulls.

I walk so that none can hear my cry,
I walk so that none my try.

I walk so that I will be found,
I walk so that you'll find my brains ground.

I walk to end this all,
I walk so you won't see me fall.

I walk so I don't have to talk,
I walk so you don't stop and gawk.

I walk so far and wide,
I walk so my story turns the tide.

I walk to be truly free,
I walk to escape the killing spree.

I walk to drown my fears,
I walk to avoid your tears.

I walk to God's green pastures,
I walk the road of many fractures.

I walk to be in the heavenly rays,
I walk to lengthen my eternal days.

I walk to better myself,
I walk away cause you think of yourself.

I walk cause it's all that keeps me sane,
I walk weakly with a cane.

I walk to escape you,
I walk cause you left me, now I'm blue.

I walk to the edge, I fall with grace,
There's the bottom, I ran out of space.
