Be Grateful

Be Grateful

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

I love the way the wind blows,
Beauty shows to him who knows.

Sitting here in silence now,
I really do not know how.

How I live while others die,
I'm here while children cry.

I sit here while guns run around,
I sit here while students live off of the coffee ground.

I cry when you're crying,
Father's really ought to be trying.

Get a job, get a life,
Maybe you'd keep your child and wife.

You can't change with just words and love,
You gotta give it all when push comes to shove.

I wince with true disgust,
We as people can no longer trust.

Hold your family close,
Closer, closer, don't you dare lose.

You never know one day to the next,
Give them a hug or send a text.

Before we next meet,
I will send a love tweet.

Can't hold you no more,
Hold on baby, what we got in store?

Life is a ride,
Gotta take it in stride

Don't worry about the green,
Put down your screen.

If you're not happy with me,
Get back, I will not stay with thee.

I gotta do what I must,
You only life once, one life and bust.

You won't hold me down,
Girl you made me out to be a clown.

No hard feelings but the truth speak,
I want a future that isn't bleak.

I know you going to go out and seek,
I'll admit with this girl I did peek.

Good attracts real,
Baby girl commiting crimes cause it's a steal.

I'm grateful for what I got and bless them all,
Right now I'm sure I'm standing tall.

Baby girl I'm sorry,
I won't be there when you fall.
