Spirit by the LakeA Poem by Samuel H. Ludke
The anger it clouds my vision,
and darkest thoughts do cloud my ambition. Keeping it hidden, the illness lies, I claw, I gasp at true paradise. I know you worry about me always, But you cannot understand. You try to help, you beg and plead, Won't someone come and take the lead. I'm trapped by myself, I'm a freak, a geek, an elf. My own mind twists realality, I'm here, but you speak to me not. I appear fine I know, But watch me as I sink too low. My mind is broken My mind is not, My mind is golden, Myself causes it to rot. You can only watch this, Watch me slide into eternal bliss. I wish to find you later on, By the lake and the setting sun. I'm trying hard to speak the truth, I try to hard to regain the youth. Find me there and don't leave me, I'll be under the great oak tree. If my grave is dirty, clean it off, Stay a while, Don't run off. While I rest, you can talk, Go on and take your walk. I'll be by your side there and now, We'll walk through the field with the cow. Lose me you will not, don't you cry, All you gotta do in life is try. © 2019 Samuel H. LudkeAuthor's Note
