Burning Desire

Burning Desire

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

As I try to escape the past,
I hope that we can make it last.
From lonely nights, to thoughts of loving embrace,
I'm glad I'm with you and that's the case.
Your love it binds me to the world,
While all else around me burned.
You keep me here in bodily form,
For leaving you is not the norm.
I am not bound by sacred law here,
I write so that you will hear.
Keep me in your thoughts and prayer,
Till my corpse is bruised and bare.
I walk this road of colored emotion,
This life will end without devotion.
Feel my hands upon your heart,
our love-making is truly an art.
When I am old and going away,
I'll remember how you always did stay.
