I Have Just These Lyrics

I Have Just These Lyrics

A Poem by Sam

I have just these lyrics

Ink to paper

Not portrait acrylics

I’m not a dauber nor a painter,

Just a young man with promise.

If I had courage, I’d kiss you

You’d be my accomplice

If I’d eyes, you’d be the view.

If I had legs, I’d amble

You’d aid my break

O’er the walls, through the bramble

For freedom’s sake.

If I was wealthy, I’d travel

With you of course

To an island marvel

You and I could endorse.

Were I cruel and malicious,

If I had no heart,

Would you cry, sit capricious

Or revive me so our love ’d restart.
