![]() The AbyssA Poem by Samantha Tamburello
Hanging on the great abyss between life and death, where you have accepted your fate and signed over your life. As I looked into the dull and unfamiliar eyes of my mother, I knew she was there. Empty orange cylinders scattered on the floor and a sea of pills claimed my kitchen table. As I began to sob as my brain connected the unfortunate clues, my mother had no reaction. My entire life... Every time I cried I brought authentic tears to this woman's eyes, but now she looked me dead in the eye and dismissed my tears as if they were the unnecessary tears flowing from some other child's eyes. This was the day I lost my mother. Yes her body is still here, but she is no longer.
