Mortal EclipseA Poem by Samantha GraceI'm not sure what triggered this particular poem, my brain won't tell me. Another one I wrote a couple of years ago.
He disappeared in the dead Of winter When the trees were in a naked Slumber And the ground, unseen, but its presence Known, even though the white snow was cast Such an irony it is to know that he Should choose to leave At such a time, knowing The reason why he chose Winter - symbolic of death, yet also Rebirth Forever, he is gone, where? I’m uncertain Forever, though, is not always Eternal, but merely a sprinkle of time So, I know he will one day return Shall I be here then? I will never know, only holding on To each second of breath while I can Unsuspecting that at any moment I could too disappear forever Unbeknown to anyone but my Creator This leads me to ponder - Can you pass if you aren’t alive, Just merely existing? Tell me first, before answering, What does it mean - What does it mean to truly be alive?
