That hallowed hand,
My mother’s love,
Rocked the cradle to and fro.
Her roots they bind me to the ground.
And still heard there,
A sweet refrain.
An age old song,
A lullaby,
Played upon my own heartstrings.
Kept me sheltered from the storms,
Would turn her back and hold me close.
Her love so bright,
It shamed the sun.
I found this to be quite beautiful. Although many people on this earth have never experienced what you've written about, we can still get a sense of exactly what you mean. Very nice work ;)
Beautiful! Really beautiful :)
It's amazing how a relationship between mother and child develops in something so deep, something that can't be compared to anything else. The bloodbond so strong, the love so entangled in all of us :)
A beautiful tribute to your mother :) really well written!
A beautiful testament to your mum. Yes, relationships can be strained between mum and daughter but at the end of the day, I truly believe there is no relationship closer. Congrats on a wonderful poem that encapsulates that thought.
Kept me sheltered from the storms,
Would turn her back and hold me close,
Her loves so bright it shamed the sun.
This is a lovely warm tribute to a special woman,
and yes, it seems she has sheltered you well.
I don't have a relationship with my mum, so you
are blessed.
