After The Trials

With wrongs must eventually come a right.

Can you imagine the guilt we all feel

Simply on reflecting on actions of the past

An example would be in a case of wrongful conviction

And a verdict edged with fire

We will think back to Salem

A case of death permeating all for wrong cause

How men shattered the mirror of truth

So that the image was not clear to onlookers

And thus with no other mind simply rallied

How lies of heresy was weaved

Into an otherwise fabric of innocence

All for a fear of what was simply unknown

Or to feed the beast that is pride

Truth not be transparent

But rather a lens of breathtaking clarity

If not that be the case

Then let people search on their own

And choose but not be forced

To follow a man who wants dominion

In the pursuit for the true objective

History has taught us many mistakes after all

No matter the period

We all must look for understanding

Otherwise the souls around will suffer

Victims of wrong actions past

And for that we look to Salem

Its true that we have destroyed the ancient culture of truthfulness because of our vested interests or, as you pointed out, pride! The poem is very relevant for today's world. And i also love the fact that you have ended the poem on a positive note, giving an advice.
