Starlight, Candlelight     by Sami Khalil

An English sonnet…Little romance

Never is a howler, joyful at night

Calm as starlight, twining two together

Cradling up by careened warm candlelight

Batting away those sparks, beyond measure.

What hums through hollow rooms echo across

Undulated utterances bursting forth

Sermonize no more when lovers crisscross

Rebellion ignited like “July Fourth.”

Twisting neon is no match to the flares

Fireworks that glitter in ink and blood

Not to shine is of man’s saddest affairs

Pertinacious are those who bloom and bud.

As light speaks of color, love speaks of aromas

While music holds the notes slipping through commas.

These days we all crave light. Love has the magical power to use the light available and create its own beautiful light. Haunting image and lovely words.

Wow! I agree with you 💯. We sure need that hopeful light that will restore and heal broken heart.. read more
Two lovers can enjoy the Starlight outside and the Candlelight inside batting the sparks of love inbetween.
Some can be the rebels that declared independence day on July the 4th. with fireworks in the sky .
We all need the light, love and music that goes within comnas or without.
