History is now    Sami Khalil

An English sonnet

The die is cast for there is no return

Caesar crossed the Rubicon eyeing the sun

As Washington lighted when wars did churn

The coming of age and victories won.

Hence history in cowardice not made

So fondly some greats must retain their names

The timid knows how defeat is long purveyed

Carrying loads untold of fires' flames.

Seize the day man and do earn your wage

Between the willows are callings for tears

Influx of fortunes and characters' gauge

The witching hours scowling great fears.

History is now in the spun egos

Dancing alone to the tune of credos.

I have sat here... reading and rereading... grasping a little more of this deep and vast poem. In some ways history is found in our last breath... and a thousand, thousand days and years carrying us in their river. So grateful for your vision and your wisdom in assessing where we are just now as we look back.

wow. this poem really helped me empathize with the current state of the world and my country. it's really powerful and absolutely true.
I think people have been deliberately made to forget who they are. People now believe that they will not have the power to do it alone. One of the biggest trend issue in Turkey right now is that football is an entertainment tool to exploit people's minds and prevent them from thinking about politics. I feel like people are losing their essence as they try to unite and start to adapt to society. But in history, there has always been a rebel and a different person who wrote different stories. A VERY GOOD POEM, as usual.

History is in the making..unfortunately now we are in a history of turmoil like nothing we have ever seen...and this is just the appetizer... it's nothing like histories past... this is brand new and not only confusing but dangerous in my opinion....unfortunately this period of history will go down as appalling....nothing to brag about!

Many things came from turning points like Caesar crossing the Rubicon, Washington crossing the Delaware.

There are turning points in history that changed many things in the world; those brave men were courageous and took those steps, sacrifices for a greater cause.
History can be made now too for each and every one of us.
Speak up, take a chance, sacrifice for others. We can all make history.
