Khalil An English Sonnet Beware of what you wish for to happen For you could get the short end of the stick Downwind, events fan out, surely slacken Flapping through wonted way, wistfully flick. Coppice your expectations where things flicker Steady the self always through thick and thin Raise not your fist madly as to bicker A second go nettles not lasting grin. Show me a man who did not learn to swim Mustn’t stand startled at calamities The fool shovels up his holes at a whim While the wise judders not his faculties. Let me implore you in the smog of days To boil your "Cauldron” good, for foresight pays. © 2025 Sami KhalilFeatured Review
