Condolensces

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

For the death of our loved ones...

Condolences           by Sami Khalil

For the death of our loved ones…

Farewell to you for those which throbs is dead

Blow out the candles when be a fire bright

Flames must turn to ashes in quiet ways’ dread

While the winged messenger prepares the flight.

Join the chorus for ancient songs I hear

Bodies perish and souls shall arise once

Seeking refuge in shared dust, mud and tear

Lie the remnants where skies fade into crux.

Come sail with me as weary ships await

Home-cheering sails where land fog dissipates

Leave your vessel, here stands a spoken fate

Truly life granted by whom that creates.

Goodbye beloved, a new place beguiles

Beckoning surrender, repose and smiles.

Saying goodbye to a loved one is so so sad and sometimes tragic.... but it's also a way of closure, a time to mourn , then a time to celebrate one's life, a happy occasion for all who loved...your words are very sentimental and your memories will be the same forever....beautiful tribute!

My pleasure!
Will that hole of missing a loved one ever be filled? I don't think so! They remain alive within us as we remember and "smile" at the wonder they brought us. Life and death, that dance we all must partake in, how we handle it, since the music is always present, is part of what makes us human and humane. As for me, I will not go "gently into the night". And I will not allow that hole to keep me from smiling with all my beloved lives! They are, after all, part of who I am today. Dancing, dancing, dancing...

Your poem Sami, wonderful, and rich in its sentiment for those "beloved" you lost along the way. I'm sure they would be smiling (joyfully) as they read your words.

Hello Sami, I have a feeling we've met here at The Cafe in one of my previous incarnations! LOL! So do I say welcome or welcome back to my poetry world? I look forward to reading more.

My baby brother (age 67) passed unexpectedly (with no cause yet determined) in October. Your words are transcendent, and so very timely.
As I "join the chorus for ancient songs I hear", I am filled with gratitude.
My favorite lines:
"Bodies perish and souls shall arise once
Seeking refuge in shared dust, mud and tear
Lie the remnants where skies fade into crux."

Excellent poetry! Maria

a comforting surrender to a harsh reality. "And just as it is appointed for man to die once". never easy to say goodbye - your words lend dignity and solace with heartfelt words along with a welcome home.
