Talents                 by Sami Khalil

An English sonnet…

Whose talents should I paint with golden smiles

Noteworthy still and in truncated wit

Born of ease hands, prized voice and wondrous styles

Teeming ‘Masters’ whose sole wills seldom quit.

I stand in awe, with caring eyes wondering

Pointing the parts of wholes second to none

Giving credits fellows earned in suffering

Familiar faces touching the skies when done.

Oh, how blessed having their pellucid lights

Worthy of all respect and grateful states

Carrying the mantle, climbing such heights

Where rare people and moments do have weights.

Flit not away your time, neither talents

Casting failures… akin to lost students.

Oh yes, we have to use the talents we are given...and be grateful for them. Each moment is a gift, isn't it? We can learn every day, every moment if we so choose. Your choice of vocabulary is always splendid. No more graphics to accompany your words? Lydi**

Samiiii...
Notes made in worthy earnestness, pellucid meanderings, neither time for last students, not failures cast as wonders.
Wit seldom respects anything but experience, especially the cutting kind.
(I had to look up the word "pellucid", it was worth looking up)
Well written...

Hey Divya. No, I don't think you have any talent beyond buying server space at an Indian scambot center.

I hope you know that you've poisoned this site with your antics. Lets see if Chuck gets involved.

For me this is a well of thought as one stands before a captivating work of art and pondering the artist's journey from novice to master. - enjoyed the read, -carl

Another fine sonnet from your pen, Sami. Love the word "pellucid" in preference to translucent or transparent here. This poem is a gem in praise of mentors or muses. I enjoyed the read.

Most talents of today Are hidden in much rabble that it goes unnoticed. Life is like that to some talented individuals, luck and perseverance are some keys to get recognize yet not all are blessed with that. And some true artists only needed one supporter in its lifetime, that's good enough for them nothing else is more important than the one the makes you happy... :)

well said. our god given time and abilities are indeed precious. we tend to neither recognize nor give credit for both. too much focus on the negative in this life. you stand in the minority with such noble thoughts.

The rich and famous ( though they seldom do) should be cognizant off, thankful, grateful as but for the talents of hard working men and women who's skills have been passed down generation after generation, it was they who gave them the platform, the basic grounding to become powerful, while the aforementioned, humble working folk simply carry on regardless, they too will pass on the ' talents ' and seek no favour..

Another worldly wise sonnet poem, brimming with humility and compassion, rock on Sami Sir!

You write with great insight into human nature, Sami. Whilst your writing can be dreamy, you live in a real world when dreams are not your poems, but for your sleeping. You use reality but.. in the kindest, gentlest manner,

'I stand in awe, with caring eyes wondering
Pointing the parts of wholes second to none
Giving credits fellows earned in suffering
Familiar faces touching the skies when done.'

You always offer great respect and understanding, my friend.
