A Cavalcade

A Cavalcade

A Poem by Sami Khalil

A Cavalcade     by Sami Khalil

Of seasons past and full gallop of time

A reminder this life held in margins

Yielding when roots dug deep turn on a dime

Wav'ring balances of scales and bargains.

There is a harvesting meant all along

Through self-mirrors, eldritch fields shall beckon

A reckoning of sorts, some drift headlong

Like comings and goings in a second.

Lay hopelessness rest by God’s comforting

Things flicker into form built on choices

What lurks beneath but junctures due bursting

A power play between heady voices.

In seas of change, meetings of hearts and minds

Wayfarers find a cavalcade that binds.

Wonderfully done, Sami 🍷

A most excellently rendered poem in 10-count Rhyming Quatrains (ck L4), with a perfect ending Rhyming Couplet envoi … I love the thought of wayward life-travelers (strangers) coming together in a mutual procession of thought and deep felt emotion.
Your title really caught my attention, too (could be a bit closer to the poem), and peaked my imagination; so, I had to take a peek … and am I ever glad I did.
Creative metaphor, smooth flow, and spot-on rhymes throughout truly make an olde bard's enjoyment a much admired and envied event.

I thank you ever-so gratefully, Sami, for sharing your skillful pen.
Best wishes for a wonderful week ahead! ⁓ Richard🖌

We all follow different paths...and we must find the one meant for us. Swimming through seas of change is not always easy, but if you ride the waves, you will arrive at the shoreline and see others who are just like you. You have written so many English Sonnets now....and you are an expert at them! Lydi**

The scales are always shifting a little this way then a little that way. It is ever changing. Sometimes it is good sometimes it is not. Life and time do not stop their march forward.

I loved the flow and the wording of this poem. Great work you have created here and great thought poured into this piece.

dear Sami… each Country needs to be Free to develop their Art and Culture. When the Leader elected who has chosen for our Country to be financially bankrupted by letting millions come into our Country with free everything… of course we do not have a Sovereign Country at present. That is why we have one Candidate who could possibly make America Great and Sovereign once again. Until we have Poetry to reach the People… the News Media is too disconcerting…

Wow! A nice poem indeed. You are welcome maiden of Virginia proper.
You write as though contemplating the previous night's dream: snippets of your previous life passing by, displaying a path followed, some of it seemingly irrelevant but also leaving small this and that you need keep in mind. Perhaps. Now you need think of that dream, use it as an outline, using better or lesser examples to hold close in the future. How finely you've kept to the genre, Sami.

Laughing - knew it!!!
quite the procession. the eyes are the mirror of the soul. this speaks to me of the battle between flesh and spirit (belonging to the almighty). freewill is not an easy path to walk - like a balance bean 'tween two worlds. life is short and we answer for all our choices and decisions. those who do not bow will be made to bow. we can run but we can't hide. we will all stand in judgement and be held accountable.
