I Rest My Case

I Rest My Case

A Poem by Sami Khalil

I Rest My Case               by Sami Khalil

An English Sonnet...

The day of reckoning is beckoning

For when the nights die out, the days cry out

To stop these awful sounds in ears dinning

Mourning the dead in thousands of no doubt.

To all those jousting or jostling along

In ways of God, you will be judged courtly

For steady looms His justice overlong

I rest my case on certainty boldly.

Who, among us, abhors not death astride

Echoing the timbrels of the Chosen Ones

They seek a homeland of their own vain pride

But trample feet on others who speak tongues.

We all deserve a primped and gowned homeland

Where fruits blossom in peace and travails stand.

this was an incredible work, one that is no doubt political, but at the same time moving and truly poetic. the dreams we each have are so small, yet in this humility humanity is made. but humanity becomes unmade, giving way to inhumanity, and its is lives the humble and innocent who are trampled upon. therein lies in the injustice of it all. that we become victimns to the unstoppable powers of hate.

a complex issue but war is surely not the answer. it comes down what is truly in men's hearts. here in america, neighbors often can't even get along - is why there are so many fences. extending an olive branch is nice too. if people worked as hard at compromise as they do at war it would be a much different world. russia, ukraine and on and on it goes. people can't see the forest for the trees so we should all drop to our knees.

nicely flowing sonnet Sami ... i have to say, however, that Hamas is not seeking a homeland and viciously attacked Israel killing civilians, for the most part and committing atrocities beyond the pall. Hamas with Iran want only the annihilation of Israel .. not only as a Nation but as a race. Palestine needs to outlaw Hamas and break all it's ties to Iran .. stop Hamas from using the Palestinian State as a cloak for terrorism. thank you for speaking on this very difficult situation for everyone ... pity we humans have such a hard time simply loving :( ... be well my friend .. respectfully yours ... peace and joy brother

A stellar, sonnet styled poem on the futilty of war perpetuated my clueless, wicked men, but yes indeed, such acts of violence and brutality against fellow humans shall not go unchecked, ' The day of reckoning is beckoning ' and if not in this world most certainly the next"

What a sonnet, Sami.. it grows letter by letter until the truth hurts like hell.

' Who, among us, abhors not death astride

Tragically there are too many who will never walk the best path

War is and always has been un-Godly. But it is not God that takes up arms - it is the obsessional faithless that forget why Mankind supposedly exists. If we are to believe, we have been/were given - choice. But. children never can be trusted when allowed to play in Life's pre-laid playground. Mankind is still learning, just as children do - but never will learn everything.

Your mind and heart sings out, albeit sadly in this case, Sami.

Ok. Much obliged. Thank you kindly.
There is no place for war but unfortunately religion promotes war more than peace when two contrasting beliefs meet. Nice one Sami.
