Dreadful HeartsA Poem by Sami Khalil
Dreadful Hearts by Sami Khalil
My nights closely hide rusted knives made real As I close weary eyes thinking of you Small boats sail through brick walls head over heel A brief sojourn in love, endlessly blue. Truth is a bitter pill to swallow down Beyond the veil, things look ambivalent Leaving no room for hope in a boom town Where lovers thrive mutually content. My world is crumbling down, filled with rubble Can't foresee a future without despair Ravenous birds circling, bearing trouble Abreast the death of me, slinking the pair. Dreadful is the heart awash in much woe Dealt with raw cards, wretched evermore so.
