Suffering

Suffering

A Poem by Sami Khalil

Suffering              by Sami Khalil

I pause to catch glimpses of passing clouds

Inching across Gentian skies and pink

Over rubble and dust, rambling white shrouds

Where aching sounds and lives lost in a blink.

I cause my wandering mind to meander

Skipping shadows casted and dreamy wings

Where blades of grass do sway and hopes clamber

Sounds of thunder and drifted lightening slings.

I spy a flock of sheep tarried, stranded

Nowhere to run from the butcher at hand

With first harvest of souls and pride branded

Reaping his hate-filled face, yielding quicksand.

I rub my eyes in disbelief wondering

How to rehearse farewell songs to suffering.

Can one ever rehearse farewell songs to suffering, Sami? Perhaps there is a way, a moment when kind thoughts and or prayers could at very least help. Sincere thought set in fine writing here.

That is the reason why I offered the remark, Sami, NOT because |I agreed with it.

Thank you kindly.
dear Sami… a precious Ode to the suffering… clouds of Mercy where Innocence becomes buried in the crevices of immortality. Amen… Pat
