War and PeaceA Poem by Sami KhalilWar and Peace by Sami Khalil Lend me an ear, listening to my voice Lend me a tear to feel my few sorrows Hard to be whole when one cannot rejoice Alarmed at the future event that follows. Hardships abound when homework is not done When lighthouses are dimmed when begged to shine Neither harvest sans the sun, nor dry run Your next dawn will rise up on forehead’s sign. War and peace are two sides of the same coin Marks of doom and hope-filled gaps in between Watching the waves crash where regret paths join They were nightmares as far as I could glean. Life’s fragile and so hearts keep pulsating Blood-soaked as love on tight ropes abating. © 2024 Sami KhalilReviews
