Low Hanging Fruit      by Sami Khalil

Thoughts on failure and success in relationships.

A modern English sonnet…

There is deafness in the air that lingers

Calling out things left between us unsaid

Paying no mind to me, pointing fingers

Had I gone to great lengths, failing instead.

Failure needs neither speech nor ears to hear

Only dreamscape statues to behold thus

What a stranger who bounces back from fear

Whistle and walk like a hero, nonplus.

Hold your breath through the canvas of the night

Confident the briny tears shall avail

I ponder words that bind some beings tight

Leaving indentations of sketchy trail.

There is no pleasure in low hanging fruit

Fondly praised are the wins in earned pursuit.

Wonderful write and read. Relationships have their ups and downs. Their failures and successes, but you have to put in effort to remain consistent or you'll end up as another victim.

With love,

Matthew

That closing couplet….. profound!
So much truth in this poem. I think we have all plucked that low hanging fruit at least once. It sure doesn’t taste very sweet.
“A modern sonnet” is a perfect description! The truths of a modern relationship portrayed so well in sonnet form.

The water does not struggle against the stone but flows around it until the stone has its edges rounded. It fills any space it enters. It seeps where it may not flow. It tumbles in wild, white abandon, over mountains and precipice, rushing to the sea. It is said that Newton learned about gravity from an apple tree. Do we wait or do we climb? Either is better I would venture than becoming bitter like Aesop's fox over the grapes beyond his grasp. Great form, good read. I enjoyed.

I thoroughly agree with Farjauna's review og this wonderful, widom packed sonnet poem, yep, ' There is no pleasure in taking the path of least resistance, and true praise is reserved for those who pursue their goals with dedication and effort. ' the poet nailed the essence with sagely interpretation, and I too hold equal appraisal and appreciation of the words penned here... Kudos poet Sami! 🏆

The closing couplet is a thought-provoking reflection on the value of hard-earned achievements versus easy wins. There is no pleasure in taking the path of least resistance, and true praise is reserved for those who pursue their goals with dedication and effort.

Sami,

I truly enjoyed this piece of most excellent Poetry set to pen of page ... In my life, I have found that the most precious things to be held in heart and hand are those things that you were forced to strive for, to reach for, to sacrifice for as treasures of which you shall never let go ...

A profound outpouring of your genuine perspectives on relationships. The fruits of success have to be earned. One hanging low is easy to pick, hence unearned. One that hangs high would require much more effort to pick, to be reached out to and expressed true desire for, hence has to be earned. Intriguing and impressive metaphor indeed in my opinion.
Kudos, cheers.
