Low Hanging FruitA Poem by Sami KhalilA modern English sonnet...Low Hanging Fruit by Sami Khalil Thoughts on failure and success in relationships. A modern English sonnet… There is deafness in the air that lingers Calling out things left between us unsaid Paying no mind to me, pointing fingers Had I gone to great lengths, failing instead. Failure needs neither speech nor ears to hear Only dreamscape statues to behold thus What a stranger who bounces back from fear Whistle and walk like a hero, nonplus. Hold your breath through the canvas of the night Confident the briny tears shall avail I ponder words that bind some beings tight Leaving indentations of sketchy trail. There is no pleasure in low hanging fruit Fondly praised are the wins in earned pursuit. © 2023 Sami KhalilReviews
