Mothers

Mothers

A Poem by Sami Khalil

Mothers                          by Sami Khalil

While I burst on the scene, though momentous

With a loud cry, grabbing hold of made life

Bonding evoked awe and joys stupendous

Carried by affable hands, nine moons in strife.

Now, among men drifting from the orchard

Finding oneself between past and future

Losing not sight of her, moving forward

This signpost of noble self and humor.

You arise in my heart with steams, sans fogs

Scented roses wafting through an apron

Pots stirred in tow, needless of famed food logs

Nourishing bodies and souls, whence partaken.

Mothers! With keener sights, you are cherished

Built on the brow of hills where ‘Time’ perished.

This is why I am always so envious of those that had one. I apparently didn't. Another amazing poem Sami. Beautiful.

A tribute to those that love with a love no man can feel. Bonded with a bond that no man can have these women, mothers, deserve recognition and love. I like your use of words in this "Carried by affable hands, nine moons in strife." so poetically said.
"Mothers! With keener sights, you are cherished
Built on the brow of hills where ‘Time’ perished."
These last two lines add a nice touch with the ending rhyme.

Beautiful sonnet Sami. You honour the role of the mother here and how they nurture. And then comes the time when we no longer have them and what an incredible void that leaves in our lives. Thank you for thoughts of my mum this morning.

This almost reminds me of the birth of Jesus, as it is told.
"Now, among me drifting from the orchard/finding oneself between past and future"
Maybe similar to how it must be for God to look down upon this mess we have made and feel
like he needs to erase the mistake before future gets too out of hand.
Mothers watch, mothers nourish, mothers love....and sometimes they just don't see what is really there...they wish and hope for the best for us, no matter how we are turning out.
a mother's love, second to none.
