Mothers

Mothers

A Poem by Sami Khalil

Mothers                          by Sami Khalil

While I burst on the scene, though momentous

With a loud cry, grabbing hold of made life

Bonding evoked awe and joys stupendous

Carried by affable hands, nine moons in strife.

Now, among men drifting from the orchard

Finding oneself between past and future

Losing not sight of her, moving forward

This signpost of noble self and humor.

You arise in my heart with steams, sans fogs

Scented roses wafting through an apron

Pots stirred in tow, needless of famed food logs

Nourishing bodies and souls, whence partaken.

Mothers! With keener sights, you are cherished

Built on the brow of hills where ‘Time’ perished.

So glad you like it. Mothers are truly special in our hearts. Be blessed.
A sonnet to celebrate that which most of us cherrish but not enough. The third stanza is my favourite in its description of motherhood and the reassuring things mothers undertake.

What a beautiful tribute to all mothers! Moms...wearing aprons and cooking meals for the family. Quite the picture you paint here, Sami. So lovely. Lydi**
