Raw Confines               by Sami Khalil

Rejection stings when we acknowledge facts

For some sentiments are hard to swallow

It takes courage to accept certain acts

Vital is acceptance when minds wallow.

Sorry for the rant which I can hold forth

It is tied up greatly with survival

Those who want good fortune must earn its worth

True values are not dead on arrival.

Last time I checked life was not so perfect

Irrespective of ghastly spectacled lines

Give feedback to self before being wrecked

For all are burdened within raw confines.

Many carry pain into an art form

Bleeding on life’s pages, blaming the storm.

This is so true Sami, if we desire a fortune, we must work hard to earn its value and rejection comes with this desire! We don't like rejection but we need to face it to move forward and grow! I enjoyed reading your Sonnet Sami, you definitely did well with the form and it was fun to read, thanks for sharing!

You are welcome.
Well, you know how much I love a good.... great sonnet and yours is marvellous...
I am thrilled to have read this one of yours, dearest Sami...
I so love these lines...
Those who want good fortune must earn its worth
True values are not dead on arrival.
Cleverly thought out and very well said.
Full with metaphors for all that read to explore.
But, then as the scare crow cried out (Wizard of Oz) if I only had a brain...
I have no idea what made me think of that except to say that you have 172 view and only 10 views... This is really unacceptable...I think people are basically lazy and want to use the site as a platform to get their work read. But don't they realise that if they do not leave feedback, that sooner or later they will have no reviews...no poet friends??
Anyway, just my thoughts exploding,
Lisa

It will be indeed. Util then, thank you kindly.
This depiction you write of is like the old adage if you fall off a horse, dust yourself and get back on. But we could all start off with a pony first. 😀 It’s funny you attract what you sow I find if you write well you have many followers and become well respected but if you don’t write properly like me lol you just get a nibble but that’s ok it’s fun. Nice Sonnet King Sami.

Raveendra Nath Tagore's Geethanjali was his conversation to Almighty when his spouse was chronically ill and suffering. Tagore won Nobel Prize for his classic named Geethanjali. Each of us has a mini version of Tagore in us bleeding in to pages so that soul will remain calm. Your poem reminds me of Geethanjali. Bereft also brings same concept. I don't remember who the author somebody named Khalil was if memory is telling the truth. Beautiful poem with really footed in facts.

Many carry pain into an art form

I loved that, it is what it is.. We poets tend to resonate pain into art, paint it so that you find it yourself, bittersweet. My burned pages sings of the unsung song. Hidden or widely read, we starve all the same way...

You too. God bless. Take care.
"True values are not dead on arrival"---but we sure do a good job of killing them...
then suffer the pain for them....turning into art, bleeding our regrets...
and finding something to blame...why not the storms of life.
