Bundled in contrastA Poem by Sami KhalilBundled in contrast by Sami Khalil A bank of emotions and of hived minds Whited out memories and ashy coals Hammered with nails, boarded with daily grinds Shrouded by stumbling thoughts, dejected goals. From times of old to copious mazes The crown is worn and the last breath taken To crumbling strongholds nested in phrases No sunlit faces grace, or felt akin. Paradise lost and sunken ships once lost Pretenses newly shared with excuses defined Dials pointed in wrong directions will cost The unbroken lies to self, do remind. Forked are the roads ahead and of sharp tongue Cogwheels spin in unison, audaciously flung. © 2024 Sami KhalilReviews
