MemoriesA Poem by Sami KhalilMemories by
Sami Khalil Some memories lidded bring us sheer dread While others dressage our bewilderment Little left for daydreams to drift instead The shreds of limned recalls nay stay dormant. Cage me not in tethered, unbidden walls Even a wounded bird embraces the sky The world is filled with reminders and calls Dogged by guilty ablations we must pry. There are moments of retreat and failures Ashes and embers face the fires’ fury When cuffs are taken away from jailors Wings will be stretched sans a judge or jury. Memories need miners with picks, shovels Canoodling toils in clack and pull struggles. © 2024 Sami KhalilReviews
