I agree Sami.
"Memories need miners with picks, shovels
Canoodling toils in clack and pull struggles."
The above lines. I do need and thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Wow! I love your take on this. I agree wholeheartedly. Thank you for the humbling praise. You too.
Nice job! I hadn't picked up a dictionary in some time. Although a good thing for a writer to do, and maybe, from time to time, a reader as well. Thank you for helping me with my vocabulary today :)

Good to see you.
An event whose memories are never forgotten.... we go on with life, but they keep popping up, especially if they have been sorrowful....take off those chains and let me be free, like the wings of a bird.....we all have memories that cannot be erased...the poem is written so well Lisa, I applaud you!

those triggers of memories often when we least expect. they can sneak up on us sometimes even opening a flood gate. can also be liberating. we might not even realize how much of an impact something had upon us as they lie dormant and buried. a fine reminder you give us as i don a miner's helmet with its light ... :)

Ah yes indeed, to quote part words of the song by the King himself, Elvis P.
' Memories, pressed between
the pages of my mind,
Memories, sweeten through
the ages just like wine '
And don't we all have them, the good, bad and indifferent, character building poetry my friend in fine, Shakespearian sonnet presentation! ' Long live the King, long live the poet Sami' Khalil!!👑

HI there,
Many people live in their memories, especially the elderly...
Who is to say what is right or what is wrong.
Really enjoyed your poem...
Did you know I also wrote and posted a poem called Memories?

Memories part and parcel of living. Nice to open the box every now and again, but life is for the living and the present. All a matter of balance Sami. Beautiful sonnet Sami. As we get older there are more memories to fall back on. You tend not to linger there in youth. Have a wonderful Tuesday. I do so love your poetic expression. Always top notch.

Memories.
Do you think we can ever control what we actually remember?

We can, to some extent, with willpower and determination, control the present, not the past or future. We can take some action to remedy things or be helpless. Your reaction to anything says a lot about your character, fortitude and wisdom present or not. Some external things we can't control for God left it in His Hands. We can control lots of internal things. He gave us a limited and not absolute willpower, to manage our survival and make choices. Some can do, others fall pray to many negative aspects of life. Addiction is one of them to give a brief example. So, on our journey in life, we accumulate memories in our playbook or records. You can play back and learn, or you can succumb to negativity and become a prey to this form. Some learned to move on which is powerful and some can't. Thank you for the question and review.
Our memories often edit out the bad and embellish the good. Best to live in the present! Great artwork to accompany your well written words. Lydi**
