Besotted              By Sami Khalil

Love continues into depths of heartbreaks

Where besotted sufferers need solace

As winds blow miry through valleys and lakes

So do the unhinged ones, fanning lawless.

Some may feel like a surfeit of blunt knives

While others do behold beneath sinkholes

Oh, how sweet the days passing time’s archives

Winsome are the vivid loves taking tolls.

More than parsing water and sovereign air

Love is our sustenance and yearning dreams

Steadfast kernels layered beyond compare

Why not embrace its molten core and streams?

Love continues to bestow invisible sighs

On cloudy days or clearly mirrored skies.

Are we not besotted by what takes our fancy and we have choices. This is where this poem took me.
Another riveting piece King Sami and showing your skills at mastering the sonnet.

Many a cord touched with your words, Sami.. However, as George Bernard Shaw said, ' A life spent making mistakes is not only more honourable but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.”

Your words always touch a special place, not casual surface but emotions deep inside you. Besotted is a superb sonnet. I must learn!. Thank you so much for sharing, Keep safe, take care..

Wonderful write Sami. You are a master of the sonnet. I have to say from memory that besotted is a most uncomfortable place to be:) Being drunk on love does make you feel completely out of sorts :) Give me comfortable any day. Much easier to cope with.

You too. Always a pleasure...
Besotted is an apt title for this one. We become drunk on romantic love, it sours, and then we have one hell of a hangover. Until the next time.
