Over The Rainbow     by Sami Khalil

An English Sonnet...

Over the rainbow, my mind wanders.

No marks of the dazed living…blinking their eyes wistfully.

No signs of fine-tuned bells…ticking away blaring sounds.

No rehearsals of floating images…malleably ingraining, objects gripping.

I implode with serenity. I explode with joy.

I decimate the flaked shadows, raging in broken allures.

I’m rising to see, to fathom, to comprehend, to experience:

the sailing horizons, the bursting dams, the trusting discharges of heavenly lands, gun-blazing all self-demons,

earthly aches, the closeted silhouettes blinding my surrender to the invisible One; Him outlasting, enduring, encompassing, fanning across, always gaining moments and momentum.

Over the rainbow, my mind wanders.

While I feel small, Your grandeur rises tall, accepting, not overthinking my winded episodes, hanging on the fringe of Glory, buckling my pride, dreams escalating in place.
