I Walk The PathsA Poem by Sami KhalilCame out and I had to write.I walk the paths by Sami Khalil I walk the paths, littered with dead leaves. Into the clouds, my head butts the slackened sails, carrying sheaves; names lost to the castings of time. And yet, through the woods, I seek refuge and sundries, leaving behind broken things. I like the sounds of wolves howling, owls hooting, voices rasping due to cold, sights of wintering- birds migrating, snow-feathers blanketing fresh soils, gossamer-clouds rolling, stretched-days prolonging flimsy things, dappled-lights spearing rock outcroppings, fishermen casting silky lines, fishes glittering upon them, heavy-lidded eyes awakening to languorous dawns. I walk the paths, littered with dead leaves; Turtles hiding under their Igloos, Pigeons flying up rooftops, smoke-plumes rising to faraway places. Here I walk, trekking in flux, while the world is still turning, strumming with the winds… all fitting this yearning; Spring anticipating afoot. © 2023 Sami KhalilReviews
