The Great Reveal           by Sami Khalil

Ever changing skies

Ever repeating histories

Two-legged, four-legged

Land dwellers... planting, harvesting

Tree inhabitants... flitting, winging

In stillness, in chaos

Breath in life, breath out hope

Calmness soft, heavy tensions

In bogus repetition, in focused volition

Where love and light remain

Untouched by mortality

Impervious to unhinged minds

Translation: Much to bear, none to spare

Conjured to steep mountaintops, caverns deep

When recognitions give way, take notice

When realizations hold sway, take heed

Must be the infinite connections

Soul to Spirit election

Until the bitter ends

Down to the sweet dividends

When bedded down, it is surreal

When the time has risen,

Gather all…for the Great Reveal.

Wow, very full on impact is my first response. so many thought images running through here, hard to keep up. Definitely "infinite connections" being played out here. I think what I like the most about it is the fact that it is, for me at least, so conceptual as possibilities and yet the closing is a very concrete expectation. Side note, I have a poem posted about The Great Reveal.

there is truth in the sky. powerful yet elegant with a strong message. i love to watch and listen to the birds. cardinals visited the bush in front of my apartment the other morning - their red coats so deep - speaking directly to the soul. they reveal much if one is aware. very awakening write any way you look at it ... :)

Brilliant! It is so hard to describe everything - it is a ‘point of life’ kind of moment and you have done it so well here. Xo ‘Elle

I guess it depends on how you define "great" and "reveal", what they are and mean... while there is only one reality, in art and fantasy, there are many.... we go from drama, comedy, real life, cartoon life, and everything in between.... in the real world, there is no "eternal" and everything eventually dies or goes out of exitance.... even our cosmos has a life span though from our perspective 13.5 billion light years might as well be called eternal since we, our plant will be long gone by the time light leaving the early cosmos right this minute reaches us...

our lives, finite as we are, need to get past this idea we can become "eternal" and begin to act today, now if we want future generations, our grandchildren's children to survive on this planet.... we can (and often do) believe anything we want, but as they say, "extinction is a motherf***r".... or to put it in terms of your poem.... the "Great Reveal" is Death (with no return ticket)....

you are an amzing poet Sami, you present us with steep mountains, deep caverns, infinite connections which prompts us who read to contemplate art and reality and everything in between.... the sign of a really good poet artist in my opinion...

" Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Some folks would rather remain prisoners of preconceived notions methinks. This is a great write. Some folks think nothing lasts forever. And for them, it may be true since to find eternity we must first believe in its existence. Few search for El Dorado anymore. I'm one of those deeply inquisitive souls that will never stop searching. I enjoyed the read. F.
