BefallsA Poem by Sami KhalilBefalls
By
Sami Khalil Leafless and bare which loiters in Winter Ruffled by the lightest waltzing breezes And faceless moons skulking darkness linger A host of trees with twigs in shared freezes. Seasons hold their fair share, threadbare, tattered In slumber land, the clocks and time scramble What lurks beneath broods over thoughts battered Rummaging befalls of twilight’s amble. Neither the somber nor the cheerful will Reckon beyond galloping years true grits From babe’s cradles to Earth’s, ashes fulfill Ladened pursuits in thrall of fate’s permits. Lifeless and bare which enshrouds in Winter Host of wailers pinned for our love’s splinter. © 2024 Sami KhalilReviews
