Decide your noble goals...

Hooks…………by Sami Khalil

It loomed over…the silvery skies,

high from prying eyes;

misty mornings of enamored clouds;

cotton fluffs embracing the orange glow.

On higher tree tops, soft whistles chirped dutifully.

Wandering thoughts called mysteriously

virtual eyes beauty-courtesy of lily lovers,

tender jewels, little babies fondled at birth,

weaned to adulthood from milk.

It loomed large…that heavenly peace,

richer by the hour, taking turns

in the apogee; the top shelf of publications.

Turn slightly that head with a smile;

life is ours to decide, to walk towards the stage,

with or without crowd’s cheers.

For the moment, let us belong, to get hooked

on noble goals, for all frames fall without good hooks.

It loomed not…across battering rams.

"If the audience will, Please, refrain from applause until the show's conclusion." I say, let them applaud, maybe it will grow contagious! (laughing) This is wonderfully worded. Thanks for sharing your talents. You are appreciated. F.

dear Sami.. we do need a Hook to Hang at least our Worries for a day or so… We do our Best to be aware that Human Nature will see us through if only we Relax and see the Calmness of a Summer’s Sigh. tenderly, Pat

oh my goodness Mr. Sami!! what an incredible inspirational, thought provoking poem ... i don't recall reading anything with themes entwined such as this ... makes me think of Cat Stevens song "Morning Has Broken" and sins against the innocent ... V1 L5 is brilliant says i! ... and closing three lines are so powerful and a beckon for all to be better ... really fine stuff dear Sami ... my sister called me as i was reading it out loud for the second time and i told her what i was doing .. i told her about your poem and she put her husband on speaker so i could read it to them ... neither are writers .. he is an artist .. but my sister instantly felt V1 L5 and asked me again to read your closing ... you hooked me good my brother .. top notch and from the hips ... hit me like a hammer with feathers ... go figure ... right!? luv on!

All rich blessings....
We can decide the direction our life goes. Too many just accept and trudge on. We do not need the acceptance and approval of others....only our own acceptance and approval. Important to remember that fact! Wonderful work, Sami! Lydi**

hey there Sami, good to read you again.... after reading your poem I am reminded of the H.D. Thoreau and how he said, "Go boldly in the direction of your dreams, live the life you have imagined." sadly in today's world the vast majority are unable to have such dream or imaginations.... life iis too filled with simply surviving... but I think poems like this one help us all to remember that we are human and can determine our stories no matter what life throws at us...

you are a dreamer Sami, not to also mention a poet... wait, isn't this the same thing??!!! I believe it is....

Certainly a poem that prods the reader to ponder. We should all live life with noble goals in mind, whether or not we fall short on delivering on some of them. A fine write on an important theme!
