Where Love Softly Lays    by Sami Khalil

My eyes caressed you tightly,

as my heart surrendered

to your feminine sway.

A dusty moon swept me

off of my feet,

while it controlled the tides

between us.

A sprightly kiss,

replete with higher arts,

patterned the tidy restitution,

within the subconscious realm.

I resolved to loving you,

towards that wayward, propitious love.

A distant, ancillary voice called mirthlessly:

“Don’t do it” …relatively speaking

turning into a vituperative attack.

With a cheeky grin, a faceless gaze, back sorely bent,

I replied: I will shiver alone in my bare longings;

Somethings are not meant to be comprehended,

especially where love softly lays.

What a beautiful, soft yet wild expression of love…. The sweeter and the bitter, the highest and the lowest, only love can make us feel

Indeed, some things are not meant to be comprehended, it seems. Love can be unfathomable at times, yet we all need love. Nicely penned!

The higher art of a kiss. I like that! And I learned a new word. Vituperative. Bonus points for that. Comprehending love. Hopefully feeling it is comprehension.

Oh yes, to pause and dream in the realm of love is what we all want...and need. There is no rhyme or reason to love, is there? The most unlikely couples end up together. The heart wants what the heart wants. A great write, Sami. Lydi**

All wonderful...................
thank heaven for it. love is a matter of the heart and not the head. no use trying to rationalize it, we follow it wherever it leads us. fighting it is pointless. it is a powerful force in a realm all its own, not to be reckoned with. it makes the world go 'round ... :)
