Thoughts on life...

La Vie En Rose                      by Sami Khalil

My thoughts expand-

to reclaim life, to fall into a rhythm,

to touch the skies, to sift through the dirt.

“Voir la vie en rose”:

Some are easy stretches, peaceful;

others are uneasy and anxious,

like unto wolf’s howls-brooding;

horizontal vs. upright coffins, guarding cobwebs.

“Voir la vie en rose”:

Two-dazed eyes that clutch barrel guns,

peering through eager wows and woeful woes;

twain-bloated lips that kiss hot kettles;

hands that caress small embers;

ears which vibrate in empty halls;

breaths to waft upward of scented winds,

towards a burst of stars.

Life binds us in many strings;

White-buttoned shirts stained with the landscapes.

“Voir la vie en rose!”

Please hold my hands, take away my thoughts,

As I scramble for the next chapter.

Such lines appear here in a very descriptive and lovely poem. It is one of those where I am at a loss to choose favourite parts. But if pushed white buttoned shirts stained with landscapes. As a painter I especially love that concept.

upright coffins...I love this poem and that allusion to skyscrapers...having come from the city....
too much of all of that when we need more space and nature and beauty...
Roses are many colors that represent so many moods...
but moods are often just dour in the city...
