Lover’s Lane                      by Sami Khalil

Throw caution to the wind,

set at full speed,

along lover’s lane,

when excitement mounts,

over the dying affection.

Of the joys, languishing

between the discerning eyes,

the startling coronation,

the glowing adoration,

the seasons of sunbeams

dance in twisting softness.

Your grandeur…

lingering in beauty,

color my blushing hues,

my adoration.

I can never be still,

for the briefest moments,

for the essence

of wordless conversation.

Your sight is being

stored away in keepsakes

of fairy tales,

the tidal waves

of captive hearts,

the lambent light

betrothed to star-kissed skies,

the nosegays of vaporous dreams,

in earnest ties to butterfly kisses,

sepals and petals alike.

Well, this takes me back to Briggs street in Lockport...
now a main highway, back then a gravel, dead end road.
cars lined up...everyone necking in the back seat...or the really daring, in the front seat.
radio blasting those tunes from the sixties to feel young love by.
thanks for the road trip back, Sami....I wish they never would have paved that street.

Wowzy! Coming from you Sir Pete is an honor and a treat. I'm grateful as I honor you.
Betrothed to Star-kissed Skies… clinging to the petals of Flowers that press into your Dreams where two become entwined…, Amen… tenderly, Pat

Wow! Thank you so much dear poet for this lovely review. I really appreciate you and your visit.
Ah, sweet memories abound.

Youth, long passed.

The only time we were ever 'caught' was the night before we got married.. LOL

I was in the service, just got home on leave that day, and love, or possibly lust at that point, couldn't wait.
