DistantA Poem by Sami KhalilI truly feel that...Distant
by
Sami Khalil Sometimes, I feel distant From myself; outside of myself, Even in the broad daylight, Even from family and friends, Encapsulated by nostalgia Feelings stored in pretentious silence. I missed many sights In my oblivion. It was all blurry, straining vision; Emotions like ground up sediments. I tell myself: There is no sightseeing without believing; Life seems a fashionable show, For the famed, for the popular, For the mannequins arranged in frozen frames- Wavering in the distance; the order and nuances of
impressions, Front mirrors, side mirrors telling us: Things are not close as they may seem. Some rotating like vinyl records, with relative ease. Oh! How weighty is love, Hollow the drainage holes.
