Heaven                                by Sami Khalil

Heaven lost to be found…

Have you any clue in this two-horse race

Before kings were made and life was colly

Prior to roses… laws enshrined in place

Man was disposed when inclined to folly?

In the nick of time, by no erased age

Infused with peace, standing in defiance

Sorrowful date flustered the written page

Falling from grace, in utter reliance.

Minds relented; souls yielded to the Earth

Against the sea tides, that horrid blunder

Out of the depths, gasping for air at birth

Specks of dust in abject flight, asunder.

Have you any clue in this two-horse race

Heaven prized away fervently this chase?

'Heaven'
Sami Khalil,
Within this world of wonders a thread of darkness.
Within the light of human kind we feel shadows.
Intermingled amidst the clues for us to find.
We hunger for something more.
Bless you dear Sami.
Hope you enjoy a great day.

The world seems to be at war with itself and has little interest in things like peace. The hints at heaven were impressionable, although I don't believe in the concept of heaven and hell, since you can experience both here on earth.

It’s like inside we have a genetic memory and desire for heaven, we strive for the wholeness and simplicity of absolute love and happiness we once should have had … if not on earth, maybe in the afterlife we may taste what now appears an untouchable dream in this life, although sometimes we may say some moments and especially love feels like heaven on earth

The Bard of Avon would be proud of your keeping the English sonnet form alive. Kudos and cheers. F.

I admire any writer who can write according to a certain form. In this case, a sonnet. I cannot.

I've been gone for a long time but I'm back now and glad to read and comment again.

thought-provoking. as i read i felt trapped in a sort of pergatory. man (and woman) started with but one rule to follow and now look how many there are. even the smallest sin is underrated. the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. well done sami ... :)
