Merry-Go-RoundA Poem by Sami KhalilA dream of reality...Do we ever lose that inner child??? An English sonnetMerry-Go-Round
by
Sami Khalil A dream of reality Roundabout merry the merry-go-round Painted horses galloped breathless without I sprawled under the carnival’s playground With whoops and yells and paled faces in doubt. Like a thunderclap, I watched the grizzled hairs Breathing their sighs as high tempo ran through They wondered how foolish those lad’s affairs Born frail, riding steady bravery’s debut. With aplomb, I kept waving at the crowd Ships in the distance appeared indistinct I groped for my spectacles while unbound Across morose, slack smiles, placidly succinct. Roundabout merry the merry-go-round A recurring dream boomeranged my ground. © 2024 Sami KhalilFeatured ReviewReviews
