Dictums                        by Sami Khalil

Never before finer words of poetry

Twigged where love yet born upon dismay

Unveil silence by storm, youth’s coquetry

Evermore birthing urges of bashful play.

Myriad desirous things arise, slip away

The sun shall not be fair delighted of clouds

And man of his windfalls lingers in grey

Where love endures the worldly ways, rebounds.

Never before precluded one’s riches

Then being blind to merriments of such life

For odds and ends bind joy and pain’s stitches

If fullness lived in grace, peace knows no strife.

In true intentions attest to sanctums

Dreary are the souls void of love’s dictums.

Sonnets are difficult, so I say well done Sami. You have to have a brave heart to attempt them. I'm a sucker for classic style poetry, so this meets with my approval. The Bard would be proud of you.

Not my favorite way to read poetry, this Elizabethan style of phrasing, but I will give you a ton of credit for trying something outside your dots & putting your all into this authentic delivery (((HUGS)))

Sami, your choice of vocabulary is absolutely wonderful! A beautifully written sonnet. Those who are not familiar with merriment, romance, and good times are the sad ones. Great job on the form. Lydi**
