Mermaid

Mermaid

Sink or swim in love. Despair and hope. Vision and mission.

Mermaid                                  by Sami S. Khalil

A new form Sonnet

While I at sea … the sky painted so blue

With chills belie, the warm sunlights accrue

My mind begged to quell inklings laid bare

Grasping memories of shadows with flair

Wherein fallow hearts search for repose

Heavy curtains of love on gray throes

For some things won’t die so through misgiving

Pain does pierce the lost soul in boats drifting

Lo and behold, hope did drape me promptly

When I saw the “Mermaid” swimming aptly

Harbinger of sanguine mercy bathing

A fairy tale, a cosmic star ... searching

I fell headlong in her beauty and song

We found freedom flitting where dreams belong

This is not what I understand to be a sonnet, but that does not take away from a damn good poem! (I'll let Richard determine if this might be some sonnet form that I've never heard of). This is the best I've seen you rhyming & lilting along thru the lines. Great imagery from the sea & also from the heart. Mermaids are magical & you've conveyed that well (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Merry Christmas. Hehehe.
It's very good and a pleasure to read, but is it a sonnet? I am no master of poetic forms, and it's enough for me that I enjoyed what I took to be six couplets of verse.

"We found freedom flitting where dreams belong."- I love this line, almost reminds me of the last line in the Great Gatsby a little bit, "And we drifted on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." To grasp at things we cannot hold...alas.

If that’s a mermaid I want one! As always King Sami written eloquently and with finesse, such a command of the English language you have.

How delightful it would be to be captured by a Mermaid, and be able to swim away from everything with her.
As long she fixed it so we could breathe underwater.
The sea is so beautiful...this poem is likewise.
Nice rhyme scheme as well.
