You and I

You and I

You and I    by Sami S. Khalil

To tarry

once more

or jump into

the fray,

into the shadows

of the fallen

before us.

Imperilments, feints

ahead

upended, interfused.

Of wracks and ruins

a vast prairie

of grand surmises

clenches the jeweled dreams,

daybreak-kissed.

You and I

then rise to meet

the trilling birds

alight the cerulean skies.

We wend our ways

and float blithely.

A brilliant write, full of intricate writing that makes the meaning and read that much better! I especially loved the last few lines, and I really adored this poem.

a very romantic write, Sami...which also could go in an opposite direction...the political "fray,"
"grand surmises" of what we might wish for...and the "daybreak-kissed" with hope
that we wake to blue skies and a rising up.

Interesting the protagonist is unsure whether or not to get involved and yet seemingly is yearning for the perfect morning to awaken with someone special. Some lovely phrases.
