Say hello to the Blue Ridge mountains,

to the cloud drifting fountains.

The view is spectacular, no words

in the vernacular, to describe,

but to inscribe love and beauty

when nature calls upon its duty.

Oh, what a trip to take,

which pilgrimages to make.

You fill my heart with gladness,

hence my heart overflows with sadness.

To our credit, who ever loves life,

partake not in meaningless strife

but lives to the fullest in hope surest.

I live approximately 40 miles from the beginning of the Blue Ridge Mountains.... as part of the Appalachian mt. chain down the eastern part of the US.... when I was in college, some of my friends and I would hike in the Blue Ridge, camp out with our tents and just wonder around taking in the views etc.... and the year after I got married, my wife and I took a trip down through Virginia and drove along the Skyline Drive and spent time having a picnic at one of the many lookouts.... these mountains use to be much taller and more rugged, more like the Rockies, but the ice age and then receding ice sheet knocked them down.... along one of its ridges, there is a place called Hawk Mountain and is home to a wide variety of hawks... as well as a river of boulders deposited by the receding ice.... a sight to see....

anyway, Sami, your poem is wonderful in its descriptiveness and giving life to these mountains for those who have not seen them or driven trough them... your poem is breath taking like the mountains themselves... nicely done Sami...

Stunning pics, Sami!

It looks like a fabulous place for some scenic touring. We have a similar area like this where I live; Blue Mountains region of Sydney; that same blue hue and allure of mystery beckoning the wanderer to explore. I love the vibrancy of the colours in your lower pic and of course, the write itself.....who knew that Sami could also apply the rhyme??

Very well done, my friend. A lovely gesture for the wandering traveller that lies within most of us

Thank you so much.
The majesty of nature can only ever be emulated, never bested. A lovely celebration of the beauty that surrounds us and that we all too often take for granted.

and what a beautiful gift you wrote...i have traveled through Tennessee and Ashville on interstate 40 more times than i can count....to visit my folks when they lived in Whispering Pines, NC..
lovely travel through those mountains...this made me a bit sad because they are gone now and i have no reason to travel there...but at the same time it made me a bit sad, it also was reminder of them, which touched my heart.
