Away Autumn StillsA Poem by Sami KhalilAn Autumnal poem...prose poetry...Away Autumn Stills by Sami Khalil Away Autumn stills, in the glare of amber gazes, atop Deer antlers, through thick manes of Horses, by
echoes of Woodpeckers’ drumbeats, pigeon drops on roofs, its sallow shadows, lancing down, proffering safe falling, the rustling resonance of leaves. To endless wondering, steadfast, the cobbled paths extend to runaway dawns, trundling past bridges resting on two banks, handing baskets of old nests. Log cabins, felled by axes, gasp through the mist of
watchful eyes, the poetic guise of cedar, oak and
pine forests. Nature is aglow, remembering halcyon days and ways, its payloads of harvest in sorrow and travail, the delighted courters of her yawning moons that arc her quiet nights. She is, with tired fingers leaves her
comfort, grasping hordes on their march, caravans of
bewildered thought. There are no plaques for change, for reflections
scattered in grace, with beating hearts’ fickle fates, theirs only
to bare. But jewels are found in forlorn wanderings, through
simpered grasps, in trust and love, where eternity rests beyond the
familiar, in moments inhaled and exhaled. That is where I
drift off, perish! © 2019 Sami KhalilReviews
