i wrestle with my shadows frequently just as soon as i get one pinned down another slaps me across the face! Shadow wrestling is a very unfulfilling sport yet for some reason i can never stop it. Having a bit of a neurological disorder makes the shadows of me a bit more difficult to name but I was blessed with an intuitive mind so there is that.... The tone and message in this is absolutely lovely and i love the painting you made in these words as well the charcoal image you added.

sometimes our lives continue, uneventful and then stuff happens and we realize just how much has passed us by, quietly, unassuming, but gone... but the constant is always 'shadows" and "subdued names", ones we try and remember but are just out of reach, on the tip of our tongues but never to be spoken... where your poem took me Sami, is how sad it is that we have become accustomed to the shadows, resolved to subdued names when what we have always wanted was to shout them as loud as we could so everyone could hear...
as you can see Sami, your poetry always invites me to explore the thoughts they give rise too... a sign of really good poetry in my opinion, which Sami you always write...

Time become our enemy in old age.
"But time rushed past us, blessing the emptiness of waiting lines.
As we hold the shield high, with hollow arms, hostages seep through our breasts."
The above lines. I do understand Sami. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome Sami and I wish you happiness and great success in 2019.
A flurry of imagery in every line....powerful to say the least. We all are multi-faceted and have different moods on different days with different people. Subdued names....quite a concept. What shall we call ourselves on any given day? I like it. Lydi**

Although admitting to being moody at times, i try to see the shadows that surround me as being reminders that.. life isn't always what we want for selves or others. We imagine, we worry, fluster, settle, then somehow wheverver, discover answers can be found that colour those 'subdued names', those shadows threatening to swallow us whole.
Meantime we miss the glints, the shimmers, the glist of..
' .. With tears in each corner, I idolized the marbled sky, feeling more than breaths laden with faceless partners.- My softer heart was a free verse.. ' Such delicate words, memorable.
Your writing is always full of luxurious phrases, rather like a rich, sweet fruitcake. Perhaps we all need to cut a slice, discover its contents. Reading again, i'm impressed by use of metaphorical know-show, the use of terms to describe what you're needing to say. Sami.

This message is highly-nuanced & I honestly am not following every twist & turn of your storytelling. But I very much admire your imagery, which is totally out of the box & it lends a dynamic aspect to your descriptions. I am drawn in by the title phrase, becuz it suggests the way we often have subconscious names that we think of, when dealing with other people . . . maybe the name we have secretly in mind helps shape the relationship becuz we act out our expectations. Here's hoping your 2019 is starting out with a big splash of JOY! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
