The Lioness

The Lioness

Be the Lioness...

The Lioness            By Sami Khalil

The abandonment of winter

in your eyes

tells me of waning storms.

Spring wore its distant veil,

tethered by that old man!

The angry storms

pinned your breathing language

to emotions, run amok.

The haze that hung over

the menagerie, is drifting away

in moot humility.

Now, stay fixed on the lioness,

within the shattered frame.

No need to prove,

but be your sure self,

healing vulnerable scars.

Choose to speak,

in no fickle manner,

what’s buried deep,

keeping your conscience

a trusted ally,

where dark places earn no rights.

Cleave to the certainty of love,

that stateless ruler,

over petal and souls,

over dusk and dawn.

Yield and shield,

holding the stars in your hands.

Embrace the wanderlust.

Bathe in the frailty of victory,

more precious than gold,

stronger than feared arms.

Your path is dappled in light,

the offspring of brazen hope.

I loved the concept of lioness, the ferocious femininity, the provider of safety and sustenance , most of all she represents strength and freedom. What a spectacular painting. Sami, your poetry is breathtakingly beautiful.
