The Lioness

The Lioness

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

Be the Lioness...

"

The Lioness            By Sami Khalil

The abandonment of winter

in your eyes

tells me of waning storms.

Spring wore its distant veil,

tethered by that old man!

The angry storms

pinned your breathing language

to emotions, run amok.

The haze that hung over

the menagerie, is drifting away

in moot humility.

Now, stay fixed on the lioness,

within the shattered frame.

No need to prove,

but be your sure self,

healing vulnerable scars.

Choose to speak,

in no fickle manner,

what’s buried deep,

keeping your conscience

a trusted ally,

where dark places earn no rights.

Cleave to the certainty of love,

that stateless ruler,

over petal and souls,

over dusk and dawn.

Yield and shield,

holding the stars in your hands.

Embrace the wanderlust.

Bathe in the frailty of victory,

more precious than gold,

stronger than feared arms.

Your path is dappled in light,

the offspring of brazen hope.

Thank you so much fellow. GLAD you like it.
Your opening lines dragged me into Your world, You've written a really brilliant and profound images here, Your words flow more powerfully with each line... very intense, urging and almost demanding, to be a Lioness in this world, both strong and passionate about what we need, yet to still carry the humanity essence inside us, like the mother Lioness whom she may raise others animal's babies with the same way as if they were her own children, her primal motherhood instinct, both strong and moral, a queen of the woodland, that's how we should be...

...such amazing phraseology, and wonderful use of imagery that is uniquely inspiring, also grounding...”no need to prove yourself, just be yourself” ~ there’s always a tendency to loose oneself when allowing oneself to only listen to other’s voices, instead of truly being in touch with our own.

...i adore this, as always, so beautifully worded! thank you so very much for the read, Sami ~ brightest blessings :)

For me the lioness represents all that a woman might be.. if she'S allowed it. Some of the lions deny her exIstence but you would have her takeN to the top of the Loving Tree where, given the chance, she will WOULD and will show her strengths, more often or not, gently applied. Over the years, have read many of your poems, this could be one of the best.. if i might say so. I recENtly wrote of such a creature appearing late as late.. and how she remained in the shadows, EVER present.. you have done the same but with an aura of 'specialdom '
