When letting go...

Forgiveness....................By Sami Khalil

When thinking of letting go:

Forgiveness come to mind,

over engraved dates,

or planted roses 

that sway in pounding hearts,

even with stabbing thorns.

It has no drafted metaphor,

no hanging confinement,

in dawn's eyes,

no damnation of hollow

faces in moral outrage.

Speaking of letting go:

Eclipses take place,

over spinning cycles.

Circling hawks will

seem so distant,

in festering fear;

that spirit animal.

History is clothed 

in borrowing shadows,

privileged to the victor.

So, write your narrative,

fitting for good intentions,

in silent goodbyes.

Leave all in the dust bin of loss,

meant to free all along.

When contemplating forgiveness:

Sami Khalil,
Right away you enter with, 'Speaking of letting go.' I like how the idea is to go through the reality of what has been to what is. Time carrying what mattered. 'Roses planted,' now with 'stabbing thorns.' "History is clothed in borrowing shadow." I did appreciate how the pain is not ignored but all the more reason to let go. I found your last two lines of interest.
"When contemplating forgiveness;
Speak of buried swords" Yes put away the weapons of bitterness and poison of heart.
It only causes more pain. Good one Sami.
We must let go of our own pain before we can heal aright.

Forgiveness is a powerful thing and speaks volumes about the forgiver. Forgiveness has changed the moodings in many hostile situations. A 9 letter word called forgiveness. Another one of your fine pieces as usual my friend. Keep writing and inspiring.

not an easy thing for us humans is it!? we say we forgive but the offence remains in our memory .... even when the emotional attachment has dissipated .. we still remember the occurrence ... funny how the forgiveness we apply heals us more than another ..in fact the letting go will free that offense from our lives without the perp ever knowing it ... they may be dead and gone ... or in jail .. or we have no opportunity to make contact ... but still that letting go will heal us ;) especially like the solemnity of your last two line ...good stuff Sami!
