"

Power of love, beauty and words...

"

Sonnet {1}       By Sami Khalil

The words of love elude this hapless mind,

Where to detest thereon my haunting pleas.

What eyes ensnare the hearts of fearless kind,

Ere taciturn plotting, a wavering tease?

The words abideth inward, cogently strong,

Fidgetly lain nervous henceforth yearning,

With tattered hopes forever dwelling long,

Misshapen gasps, fecund roses gleaning.

Vigorously bewitching dreams… lovelorn

To behold birds abreast in-flight sublime.

Alas, my queen thy reign a quest unknown,

The pith of beauty sways capricious clime.

In pondering afore, blue skies and breeze,

Heaped clouds serenely drift phrases as these!

'Sonnet'
Sami Khalil,
Intriguing, inspiring, thought provoking. Just a few words describing the thoughts in taking in this work you've composed here. My feeling of the beauteous goals which in the end were not meant to be and teased with what seemed lovely. The hopes for love which were only meant to spoil with time. The Skies of blue above which teased and said simply accept the blessings you have for nothing lasts and we human souls will change and learn and go through seasons. Thanks Sami I needed this reminder to appreciate the seasons of this life. Some people and memories stay strong and vibrant, some...well must fade. Bless you and your lovely work.

'Vigorously bewitching dreams… lovelorn ~ To behold birds abreast in-flight sublime. ~ Alas, my queen thy reign a quest unknown,~ The pith of beauty sways capricious clime.'

Sami, you're returning to your more traditional poetising and as ever. create such wonderful phrases in sonnet form. Your prose poetry developed into a roar of flight, here your words are concise yet still rise with colour and changes of mood. What fine metre..

I 've looked at that visual you're using and wonder if it is part of a far larger canvas. There seems to be a face with brows, eyes, nose and more.. fascinating.. must see if i can discover what and who.. the colours are more than appropriate for your poem, truly are.

All true. I gues we'll just enjoy the unknown sometimes. Gone this instant!
Magnificent sonnet, Sami! Sometimes a beautiful facade can hide an ugly soul. The opposite is also true. We must dig deep to find the truth. Your words are well chosen and so lovely. The artwork is splendid. I don't recognize the artist, but I like it. Lydi**

another fine poet I have missed reading... Sami, I must agree with Jacob on your ability to write poetry of all kinds, but this sonnet is exceptional... sometimes beauty does hide the ugly underneath, but the ugly always appears if there and we should take time to let everything unfold before we decide as often it is truly only beauty we find...

are we just totally fooled by all that is beautiful...are there dark clouds beneath that we either don't see or refuse to see?
