Pastiche And Parody

Pastiche And Parody

A Poem by Sami Khalil
"

The cycles and seasons...Can you imitate Nature or understand the cycles...

"

Pastiche And Parody/By Sami Khalil

Death and rebirth of nature’s own

Let me herald or cast sublime, new beginnings

When nature is branded in her refined fashion

And no somber faces, sulking, are taken aback

Mourning demises that lie in stillness of shrouds

Lending miracles, lingering in diaphanous passion.

Let my refuge be anchored in frilled derangements

Setting scenes of recalls and gnarled mind-escapes

Beseech I to reflect on paths drawn in swirling haze

By interlaced summits and lush, felicitous pastures

Stippled not by man, but hands of a benign action.

For, slowly they burst

Into peals of laughter and abundant life

Spring gentle and Summer's insouciance forged

Cicatrices weathered and windblown fast.

And, slowly they perish

With rictus grins and megrims of death pleas

Tatterdemalion of Fall and gelid Winter’s eddies

Pastiche and parody of pert notions past.

So in nature , so in man , the seasons in their glory then they fade heat and cold life and death. Beautifully told as usual.

dear Sami... your poem is magical in the same way that Train's "drops of Jupiter" struck me. "she acts like summer and walks like rain... since the return from her stay on the moon She listens like spring and she talks like June". You are very talented in the same sort of way. I adore your poem. truly, Pat

dear Sami... now I understand why my father was drawn to Shakespeare, having lived through the emotional seasons of weather and life. Your art and verse is true to destiny of
wind blown fortunes. truly, Pat

I always look forward to your poems because among my friends on this site, your word pictures are incomparable. This one brought beauty to my day. An eloquent and novel take on the seasons and the endings and renewal that they bring. Thanks again for sharing.

Yes indeed Sami, superbly conveyed as always, though we can never completely replicate nature's brilliance, we can stand back in awe, admire her serenity and draw sustenance to fortify the spirit....
'Look at the autumn flowers how they wither and fade
With nature`s hidden powers, next year they`ll be re-made
Don`t give up till it`s over, don`t quit if you can
The weight on your shoulder will make you a stronger man'

I seemed to find in you Sami those deep revelation of word and thought set loose on the sun where they compete gingerly with the intensity of light.

Regards,
Al
